A Brighter Choice: Why We Use Wheat Straw Composite

At Wag & Bright Supply, that thinking helped shape our Puppy Polisher toothbrushes and shampoo brushes. Instead of using conventional plastic alone, our handles are made with a wheat straw composite material — giving an agricultural byproduct a second purpose.

So, what is wheat straw composite?

Wheat straw is the stalk left behind after wheat is harvested. Rather than relying solely on traditional plastic, wheat straw fibres can be incorporated into a composite material to create durable everyday products.

For us, it was a way to be more intentional about material choices while still creating products that are practical, comfortable and designed to last.

Small choices can make a difference.

Pet care products are part of our everyday routines, and those everyday items add up. Choosing materials that incorporate agricultural byproducts can help reduce reliance on conventional petroleum-based plastic while making use of resources that might otherwise go unused.
